Marouane Fellaini

Man United’s Marouane Fellaini & Spurs’ Moussa Dembele receive huge China offers

5 Belgian players offered huge money in China

Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad have a feature on their website today detailing five Belgium stars who are being offered big money to go play in China.

A feature of the worldwide football transfer market in recent months has been the huge amounts of money being splashed by Chinese clubs.

They are currently preparing for the new season in China, with some big names having signed up at the Chinese Super League, including Oscar, Carlos Tevez and Axel Witsel.

Will any Belgians join Witsel in China?

Het Nieuwsblad report that at least five Belgian national team players have received huge offers from China.

They are: Romelu Lukaku (23, Everton), Christian Benteke (26, Crystal Palace), Dries Mertens (29, Napoli), Mousa Dembélé (29, Tottenham) and Marouane Fellaini (29, Manchester United).

Almost all these players were offered more money than Axel Witsel will earn in China: 18 million euros per season.

Lukaku rejects China offer

Romelu Lukaku has rejected the offer from China. He is negotiations with Everton over a new deal and according to the Belgian newspaper hopes to move away from Goodison Park in the summer.

The other four players mentioned are considering the offer. Whilst they play in top class leagues, such as the Premier League, they might not receive such a financial offer ever again.

Tottenham midfielder Moussa Dembele is quoted in the article: “It is anyway a very difficult choice. For young players still have to grow, it is not wise to go down. For older players might is different. But honestly I have no idea about the level of football. It is hard to say.”

£300,000 per week

With Spurs battling on so many fronts, it would be a huge surprise were Dembele to leave any time soon having become such a massive player for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Manchester United fans have been hugely critical of Marouane Fellaini of late and the Belgian midfielder is on the bench for the EFL Cup clash with Hull tonight.

Could anyone blame Fellaini for moving to China to earn at least what Witsel will be earning: £300,000 per week (£15,637,765 per year).
