Gareth Bale

Man United’s hopes boosted to sign Real Madrid Galactico Gareth Bale

Could Gareth Bale join Manchester United this summer?

A number of the English newspapers lead with the story that Manchester United have new hope to sign Gareth Bale, on Friday.

Bale has been linked with Manchester United pretty much ever since he left Tottenham for Real Madrid.

Indeed, David Moyes is understood to have bid for the Welsh Express but Spurs would only sell to a foreign club.

This week, Real Madrid have reportedly agreed a fee with Monaco for Kylian Mbappe, as a result, the Gareth Bale rumours have emerged once again.

Manchester United on red alert

James Ducker in the Daily Telegraph reports that Manchester United are on “red alert” to sign Bale.

This essentially comes from the fact that Zinedine Zidane announced a high profile departure was possible.

Of Real Madrid’s front three, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema higher up the pecking order, the possible arrival of Mbappe threatens Gareth Bale’s starting opportunities at the Bernabeu.

Bale endured an injury hit season in 2016/2017 and lost his place in the Real Madrid starting XI to playmaker Isco.

Perisic or Bale?

For much of this summer, Manchester United’s target for the left wing position has been Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.

Ducker adds that Manchester United will not make a move for either Neymar or Alexis Sanchez, despite the constant rumours about the attackers.

The Daily Telegraph scribe adds that Nemanja Matic’s move from Chelsea to Manchester United “seems likely”.

Zinedine Zidane on Bale

When questioned earlier this week about possible departures at Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane said: “I hope they all stay for this season. I hope everyone remains. I want everyone who is here now to stay, but anything can happen right up until August 31.”

Whilst the English press go big on Bale to Manchester United today – see below. There remain no indications from the player himself that he has any interest in leaving Real Madrid.
