Man United to move for a young defender
Manchester United shelved their bid for Victor Lindelof due to the form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
Lindelof continues to be linked with Manchester United but it won’t happen in January as Jose Mourinho seems satisfied with the options he currently has.
On Wednesday, The Sun have linked Manchester United with 18-year-old Salzburg centre back Dayot Upamecano.
United face plenty of competition for Dayot Upamecano
The French youngster has impressed for Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga but does have a disciplinary problem – picking up red cards in two of his past seven matches.
Manchester United will bid for Upamecano but could struggle to make their offer of 7 million pounds count since Salzburg are owned by Red Bull, who also have a controlling stake in Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
No less than nine players have been transferred between the clubs over the past three years, including Naby Keita, one of the best players in the German Bundesliga this season.
Upamecano has plenty of admirers, including Barcelona, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
