Memphis on the Man United margins
Memphis Depay hasn’t exactly set the world alight at Manchester United.
The Dutch winger arrived at Old Trafford in summer 2015 having played a leading role in PSV’s league title, and Manchester United showed just how highly regarded him by bequeathing him their legendary number 7 shirt.
But 77 would have probably been a more appropriate number for Memphis, such is the little time he’s actually spent on the pitch.
Since Jose Mourinho took charge, Memphis has barely started a game, and he’s now been completely taken out of the picture as the club seem to be preparing to move him on.
He wasn’t involved in any of United’s fixtures, and was allowed return to Holland for a holiday despite being fully fit.
Everton have been reported as expressing an interest – indeed Ronald Koeman has publicly admitted as much.
Nice also expressed an interest in taking Memphis on loan, but were immediately rebuked by United, who insisted they would only sell him, not loan.
And now Ligue 1 giants Lyon have entered the fray.
According to RMC, the Ligue 1 club have placed a bid with United for the winger, and it’s now up to United to decide whether the bid meets their valuation.
Lyon have made a bid for Memphis Depay. United and Lyon negotiating.
However, the clubs are far away from reaching an agreement. #RMCsport
