Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claims that Philippe Coutinho is now “ill”

Supposedly ill

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League playoff second leg against Hoffenheim, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was once against bombarded with questions on the future of Philippe Coutinho.

Klopp revealed that Coutinho won’t be playing on Wednesday night as he is ill and that his return date is unknown; an excuse many will find suspicious.

The German manager did, however, follow that up by saying that Coutinho would be welcomed back into the side and that there are no problems between him and the player.

Played his last game for Liverpool?

The Brazilian missed the first leg of the tie last week, and has also failed to appear in either of the Reds’ two Premier League games.

Official word from the club was that Coutinho had a lower back problem, although many believe his absence had something to do with the intense interest shown by Barcelona.

Barcelona have already had two offers turned down by Liverpool. In fact, Coutinho anded in a transfer request at Anfield, which the club have since rejected.
