Joselu set for Newcastle as Stoke close in on Jese Rodriguez

The Spanish striker merry go round

The Premier League may have kicked off this past weekend, but plenty of clubs in the Premier League look very likely to be very busy in the coming weeks.

Amongst those are Stoke and Newcastle, who both lost on the opening weekend of the Premier League 2017/2018 season and both failed to score a single goal.

Stoke went down 1-0 at Everton to Wayne Rooney. Whilst Newcastle were defeated 2-0 at home to Spurs, but were goalless until Jonjo Shelvey was sent off.

Joselu to Newcastle

In the past few hours, Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague has had a number of updates on two Spanish attackers making Premier League moves.

Balague reports that Newcastle are close to signing Joselu from Stoke.

Joselu is owned by Stoke and scored four goals for the Potters in 22 appearances in the 2015/2016 season..

Last season, Joselu spent time on loan at Deportivo La Coruna, scoring 5 goals in 20 games.

Having come through the Real Madrid youth team, Rafa Benitez knows Joselu well and in theory, his physical presence should do well in the Premier League.

Jese Rodriguez to Stoke

Whilst Newcastle fans will be satisfied with signing Joselu, the signing of Jese Rodriguez will seriously excite Stoke supporters.

Jese was one of the big hopes of Spanish football just a few seasons ago but is now unwanted at PSG.

The 24-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League and will provide Stoke with a little star power after the departure of Marko Arnautovic.
