Jose Mourinho opens up about Man United’s January transfer policy

Mourinho on transfers

After Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Hull on Tuesday night, in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg, Jose Mourinho spoke with Sport TV and discussed his plans for the January transfer window.

With a move for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof seemingly shelved, it looks like Manchester United’s major market moves in January will be sales.

Morgan Schneiderlin is expected to join Everton in the coming hours, whilst Memphis Depay continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

“Raise pounds to attack in the summer”

Mourinho told A Bola: “I am convinced that in this winter market we will be sellers and not buyers. We want to raise pounds to attack in the summer, as we did this year with the contract of four players.”

On arrival at Manchester United last summer, Mourinho brought in Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Now speculation is rife as to which four players Mourinho is keen to bring at the end of 2016/2017.

Antoine Griezmann is one player that has constantly been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks.
