Iker Casillas will leave Real Madrid this summer, David De Gea will sign from Man United next week [TVE]

There has been a development in the David De Gea saga on Wednesday, according to Spanish media outlet TVE (as reported on AS).

TVE have announced that Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has decided to quit the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, to make way for De Gea after his imminent arrival from Man United.

The Spanish goalie is reportedly set to sign for Real Madrid in the coming days, while he’ll be official unveiled at the club by the middle of next week.

As to Casillas’ future, TVE report that Los Blancos have accepted the keeper’s decision to leave the club, and Madrid will do everything in their power to facilitate an easy transfer to the club of Casillas’ choice. Fenerbahce are thought to be the front-runners for the keeper’s signature.

Of course, looking at the story from a Man United perspective, the news that De Gea is leaving the club this summer will come as a big blow.

De Gea was arguably United’s standout player in 2014-15, and Louis van Gaal will be left with a difficult job trying to replace De Gea.
