Hector Bellerin & Barcelona
For months, if not years, FC Barcelona have been linked with Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin.
It must feel like deja vu for Arsenal fans, who experienced a similar situation with then-captain Cesc Fabregas when he joined the Catalans in 2011.
Bellerin was raised at Barca’s La Masia before he was snapped up by the Gunners.
The 22-year-old is under contract at the Emirates until 2023, however speculation refuses to go away linking the defender with a return to Spain.
Bellerin is currently away with the Spain under-21 squad for the European Championship, and last week Mundo Deportivo published fresh quotes from Barca’s Denis Suarez, who is also with Bellerin in the Spain squad, about what the Gunners defender had told him about his next career move.
In a worrying update for Arsenal fans, Suarez has said:
I have spoken with Bellerin and on the one hand he wants to come to Barca and on the other he feels tied to the Arsenal. I wish he could come.
Barcelona would likely have to pay around 40 million pounds to sign Bellerin from the Gunners this summer.
More hints the deal is on
On Monday, Spanish paper Sport have published more updates suggesting Bellerin’s Barcelona return is close.
It’s claimed that defender has bought a house of the Catalan coast, and his parents no longer live in London.
So how close is the deal? Sport note that Bellerin is aware that “negotiations will be long, complicated”, while talks will only kick off in July.
