Good news for Liverpool: Barcelona lock down Jean Michael Seri

Barcelona are signing Jean Michael Seri

News has broken out of France on Saturday night that Barcelona have made their second major signing since Neymar’s move to PSG.

Last week many were stunned when Barcelona signed Paulinho for 40 million euros.

But supporters will be on side with Barcelona’s next signing: Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

Seri has been linked with a departure from Nice all summer, while the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal were named possible suitors.

Radio Monte Carlo

News of the deal have been broken by Radio Monte Carlo.

From people in the know, including Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague, if Radio Monte Carlo say it’s a done deal, it’s a done deal.

Seri, a 12-time capped Ivory Coast international, was one of the standout performers in Ligue 1 last year as Les Aiglons secured a shock Champions League place for next season.

Controlling proceedings from the middle of midfield for the entirety of his side’s stellar campaign, the diminutive 25-year-old playmaker racked up 7 goals and 9 assists, catching the eye of some of Europe’s biggest sides in the process.

Good news for Liverpool?

Liverpool fans will be hoping the Seri deal is good news for them.

Should Barcelona complete on the transfer, it means that Philippe Coutinho’s possible move to the Camp Nou feels even more remote.

On Friday, news broke that Liverpool rejected Barcelona’s latest bid for Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho. The bid was in the region of £114m.

Coutinho recently submitted a formal transfer request to try and convince the club to sell him so that he could make his move to Barcelona.

So far, Barcelona have seen three bids batted away from Liverpool. Will they return with a fourth and final offer?
