Gianluigi Donnarumma & his ongoing contract saga
At just 18, Gianluigi Donnarumma has established himself as undoubtedly the finest young goalkeeper in the world.
Gianluigi Donnarumma consistently looks like AC Milan‘s best player which is both a reflection of his own talent and the current standing of the Rossoneri.
Yet, the Italian custodian is contracted with AC Milan until 2017/2018 and could well be forced to leave the Rossoneri who will almost certainly not be playing Champions League football next season.
Donnarumma: “My agent will take care of it”
On Monday, as Donnarumma joins up with the Italy national team squad, the AC Milan keeper was asked about his future.
Having turned 18 in February, Donnarumma can now sign a new deal with AC Milan.
He said: “I hope to stay because they are AC Milan. In terms of the renewal, my agent will take care of it.”
Raiola: “He deserves a great team”
Now the first part of the sentence should make AC Milan fans pretty satisfied. The second not so much.
Donnarumma’s agent is Mino Raiola, who has emerged as a key player in the transfer market, as he represents the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.
Raiola recently said: “We do not know if he will continue in Milan because we do not know what the new Milan will look like. If (Donnarumma) deserves a new Milan? No, he deserves a great team.”
If Donnarumma cannot agree a new deal with AC Milan, pretty much every big team in Europe will surely be interested.
