Chinese Super League taking over
The Chinese Super League has landed its latest acquisition in its quest for world football supremacy.
In the last year, the Chinese league has stepped up its bid to become a major global player by attracting several big stars from Europe.
The likes of Hulk, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Graziano Pelle were already out in the Far East last season, and in the past few weeks they’ve managed to lure Oscar from Chelsea, Carlos Tevez from Boca Juniors, and Alex Witsel from Zenit St Petersburg.
And now they’ve made another big statement, with Lukas Podolski set to join the Chinese movement.
Podolski moving to Beijing Guoan
Galatasaray director Levent Nazifoglu confirmed as much today, telling the local press in Antalya:
‘The transfer of Lukas Podolski to Beijing Guoan is in its final stage. The player is in favour of the move; it has to happen this week or it won’t.’
The added caveat is interesting: it seems Gala want the Chinese club to hurry up, and will only sell the German on their terms.
Podolski has spent the last few years with the Turks, after leaving Arsenal.
