Nathan Ake returns to Chelsea
It didn’t take long for the rumours to turn into reality on Sunday, as Nathan Ake returns to Chelsea from his loan spell at Bournemouth.
The Blues could recall Ake at any time, and took up their option on the Dutch defender following some fine performances for the Cherries.
Antonio Conte hinted at this coming to fruition on Saturday, in his pre-Peterborough press conference.
Ake a perfect fit for the 3-4-3
The fact that Ake was completely left out the Bournemouth squad for their FA Cup defeat at Millwall seemed to confirm the loan move was coming to a close.
It will be intriguing to see whether Ake plays regularly for Chelsea but he does look a perfect fit for Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3.
Ake could fill in in the centre of defence or on the left wing back position which has been held down by Marcos Alonso during Chelsea’s incredible Premier League 13-game winning streak.
Chelsea take a sly dig at Liverpool
It is also great testament to Ake that he has played so well at Bournemouth, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte feels he must get him back to help the Blues Premier League title challenge.
Chelsea’s announcement also took a sly dig at Liverpool – why did the Blues only mention the Merseyside club?
Ake also scored the Bournemouth winner against Stoke in November…
