Crystal Palace linked to Newcastle striker
A little nugget of transfer gossip was dropped by the deputy news editor of the Guardian Sport, Ed Aarons, on Tuesday.
According to his sources, Crystal Palace are targetting a Newcastle striker this January.
Of course, there are plenty of links between the Eagles and the Magpies.
Alan Pardew used to be the Newcastle boss before he took over at Selhurst Park, while the two clubs have recently done business together as Dwight Gayle moved to St James Park in the summer.
Gayle signed a five-year deal with Newcastle in a 10 million pound move, but it’s his strike-partner, Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is of interest to the Premier League strugglers.
So what do we know
The 22-year-old Serbian striker Mitrovic has a 15 million pound price tag around his neck.
Not only are Palace in the mix, but so are Swansea.
The rumours about Mitrovic come at a time when he’s struggling to get into Rafa Benitez’s side. The Spanish boss has opted to play either Mo Diame or Ayoze Perez in behind a lone striker and Dwight Gayle in recent weeks.
Mitrovic has not started any of United’s last four games.
Told that #cpfc are considering a £15m bid for Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. Also wanted by Swansea
