Big-spending Everton are considering a loan move for Chelsea outcast Diego Costa.
The Telegraph are reporting that the Toffees could take the Spaniard on a short-term loan deal, having failed to land Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
Ronald Koeman has already splashed the cash on the likes of Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane and Sandro Ramirez.
Despite Wayne Rooney also re-joining the club, Koeman is still chasing a like-for-like replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United earlier in the window.
When asked about Costa in a pre-match press conference, Koeman responded: “Of course you like to sign players for the future, but if you can get the best one that way [on loan], then why not?
“That’s for six months, the season, two years.”
Atletico Madrid ban
It’s well known that Costa favours a move back to his former club Atletico Madrid.
The striker would already have re-joined them were it not for a transfer embargo facing the Liga side.
Atletico are unable to register new players until the January transfer window, when it is expected that Costa will move back to the club.
Costa’s relationship with Chelsea and manager Antonio Conte seems irreparable. The 28-year-old released this statement after the club fined him for missing training.
