Chelsea, Liverpool & Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
For how much longer will Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain be on Arsenal’s books?
With less than one year to go on his contract at the Emirates Stadium, the Ox has been linked with a possible move to either Liverpool or Chelsea this summer.
Once tipped to be the next great English midfielder, Oxlade-Chamberlain is now viewed as a back-up wing-back for Arsenal.
In the 4-3 win over Leicester in round one of the new season, Oxlade-Chamberlain played at left wing-back.
Against Stoke in the 1-0 defeat on Saturday, the Ox was deployed at right wing-back. Hector Bellerin surprisingly played down the opposite flank.
Filling in down the wings appears to have alerted Chelsea to the Ox’s contract situation. Antonio Conte has been looking for back up in those positions all summer.
As for Liverpool, the Ox could provide support in range of positions in midfielder.
However, the big news in the Star on Monday is that Arsenal are locking Oxlade-Chamberlain down to a new contract.
Oxlade-Chamberlain staying at Arsenal
The Star announce that Arsenal have presented the Ox with a new deal. Readers are told:
Arsenal have offered Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a new four-year deal worth £125,000-a-week to fend off interest from Chelsea.
Antonio Conte has made the England ace one of his top transfer targets and with Chelsea bidding £40m.
For the record, the Star leave links to Liverpool out of their report on the Ox.

So will the Ox sign?
Just because Arsenal have offered the Ox a deal, does that mean he’ll sign? The Star delve into that issue, reporting:
The Gunners are believed to be optimistic the 24-year-old will now accept the improved terms and sign up.
Arsenal return to Premier League action next weekend with a tough trip to Liverpool.
