Ousmane Dembele

Borussia Dortmund name their Ousmane Dembele price, ahead of possible Barcelona meeting

Will Ousmane Dembele leave Dortmund for Barcelona?

Much like Philippe Coutinho at Liverpool, there seems little doubt that Ousmane Dembele would like to join Barcelona.

However, Borussia Dortmund have dug their heels in. And, the current Barcelona board seem unable or incapable of pulling off a major transfer.

On Thursday, German magazine Kicker have an update on Dembele’s possible move to Barcelona.

Dortmund have held firm throughout this transfer saga and look like continuing to do so.

Kicker report that Dortmund’s asking price for Dembele is 140 million euros and they simply will not budge from that evaluation.

Barcelona’s last offer for Dembele came last week and was way off this asking price.

Kicker report that Barcelona offered 80 million euros plus 25 million euros in incentives.

This was immediately rejected by Dortmund and if there is no deal agreed by this weekend, the Bundesliga giants will not sell the French attacker.

Possible Dortmund-Barcelona meeting today?

There are plenty of similarities with Barcelona’s failed attempt to sign Philippe Coutinho, in the reporting of their interest in Dembele.

Another rumour that has emerged in recent days is that Barcelona and Dortmund will meet at the Champions League draw on Thursday to negotiate over the former Rennes youngster.

BVB Sports Director Michael Zorc has assured Kicker that he is only travelling to the draw for the arrangement of Dortmund’s Champions League matches.

Zorc added to Kicker that there will be no direct negotiations between Dortmund and Barcelona at the Champions League draw.

Both Dortmund and Barcelona find themselves in Pot 2 for the Champions League draw.

Arguably, Pot 2 is stronger than Pot 1, reserved for champions and the winners of the competition.
