Man United & Victor Lindelof
Having looked likely to come to fruition several weeks ago, everything’s gone cold in recent times regarding Man United’s pursuit of Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.
The Portuguese press have been consistently reporting that Lindelof would cost 45 million euros and he would be the most expensive departure ever from Benfica.
However, a few days ago the BBC reported that Jose Mourinho has changed his mind on the Swedish international, and that sentiment was repeated on 5 Live radio on Tuesday night.
So what’s the update?
Journalist Simon Stone is well-connected when it comes to Man United matters, and the reporter has provided an update on the likelihood of Lindelof moving from the Stadium of Light to Old Trafford in January.
Cutting to the chase, Stone says United “have not bid and won’t be bidding” for the 22-year-old Scandinavian.
That doesn’t mean however that United are not set to boost their defensive options this month.
With Eric Bailly now with the Ivory Coast for the African Cup of Nations, Simon Stone says United are still in the market for extra defensive cover.
So who else could Man United go for? Maybe a move for Jose Fonte?
