Barcelona willing to ‘fight’
Barcelona are willing to ‘fight’ for top transfer target Philippe Coutinho.
Last week Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group issued a statement saying that Coutinho would not be sold this summer. However, just hours later, Coutinho handed in a formal transfer request – which was subsequently rejected by the club.
Despite that, a source told the Telegraph that “the fight goes on.”
It’s clear that both Barcelona and Coutinho want the move to happen, and the Catalans are now readying a bid in excess of £90 million.
Coutinho ruled out
In addition to chasing the Liverpool star, manager Ernesto Valverde is also chasing Borussia Dortmund youngster Ousmane Dembele.
Somewhat suspiciously, Coutinho missed out in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Watford due to a lower back injury.
Jurgen Klopp also ruled out the Brazilian from facing Crystal Palace this weekend. Whether his injury is genuine or not, Coutinho may well have played his last game for the Reds.
The Catalans are currently flush with cash following the 222 million Euro sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.
