Barcelona join Real Madrid in the race for Kylian Mbappe

Where now for Kylian Mbappe?

Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe remains at the Ligue 1 champions despite a week of speculation.

On Tuesday, Marca reported that Real Madrid and Monaco had agreed a 180 million euro fee for Mbappe.

Since then, this has been denied by Monaco, most prominently at a press conference on Thursday when their vice president welcomed five new players to the club.

Monaco announced that they are now keen to agree a new contract with Mbappe.

Monaco are willing to sell Mbappe

On Thursday, Le Parisien have an update on the future of Mbappe.

The Paris-based newspaper report that Monaco are now willing to sell Mbappe for a gigantic fee, thought to be around 190 million euros.

Mbappe is tipped to take advantage of this especially as he has seen some key team mates leave the club.

Those include Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy.

Barcelona join Real Madrid in the race for Kylian Mbappe

The most surprising aspect of the Le Parisien report is that Barcelona are now set to join the race for Mbappe.

They are reportedly already planning for a “post Neymar” environment and Mbappe could be a superb replacement for the Brazilian.

Le Parisien also that PSG have not given up on Mbappe and they cannot be discounted from signing the young French striker.

“The soap opera has been revived”

Presumably, there is no chance that PSG would sign Mbappe and Neymar.

Whilst it once looked likely that Mbappe would stay at Monaco, that is looking increasingly unlikely. The “soap opera has been revived”.

Mbappe, just 18, made 29 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 15 goals. In the second half of the season he was a key part of the Monaco side that won the French title and reached the Champions League semi-finals.
