The story about Arsenal bidding £56 million for a Torino striker sounded false and the Independent claim that it is. The Gunners never made such an offer. It didn’t sound very like Arsenal. The strangest thing is that the source was Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachi. He didn’t just hint that it was Arsenal either – he named them specifically.
Sky Italia quoted Petrachi saying: “We received and refused a €65m offer from Arsenal for Andrea Belotti, but it does not reflect the value of the player. Anyway, he is going nowhere for now. We want to enjoy him, then we’ll see what happens. We intend to keep Belotti and president Urbano Cairo signed this important buy-out clause.
“I think he’s worth more than they have offered.”
Who is Andrea Belotti?
One of the top goalscorers in Serie A, Andrea Belotti has 13 goals and four assists this season. He’s already beaten his tally of 12 from last season. The 23-year-old is an Italy international and has three goals in five appearances for the Azzurri. A strong forward, he can play as a second striker and could be the attacker Arsenal need.
