In a surprise piece of news emanating from Spain this afternoon, the agent of Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has admitted that he regularly meets with the directors of Spanish giants Real Madrid to discuss his client.
Despite the fact that current first-choice goalkeeper Keylor Navas has proven himself to be top-class over the past few seasons, links between Real and the world’s finest shotstoppers continue to circulate on an almost daily basis.
Manchester United’s David De Gea has been a much-publicised target of the Bernabeu club for several years now, with AC Milan contract rebel Gianluigi Donnarumma also on the rumoured wishlist of the Blancos hierarchy.
Another name that has been regularly linked with a move to the Spanish capital (though not quite as heavily as the aforementioned pair) is Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The 25-year-old has proven himself as one of the world’s finest in his position over recent seasons, with links away from Stamford Bridge coming as an inevitability as a result.
Rumours linking Courtois with a Blues departure, though, have always seemed little more than just that, rumours.
However, Christophe Henrotay, the Belgian’s representative, has revealed this afternoon that there may be a little more substance than first thought to the reports linking his client with a London exit…
Speaking to Belgian outlet Sport, Henrotay divulged:
‘Obviously, the biggest clubs are interested in Thibaut, and that includes the reigning European champions.’
‘I meet regularly with Real Madrid’s directors and Thibaut’s situation is evaluated.’
‘My role is to keep him informed of the situation.’
