Jumped the gun
Earlier reports suggested that AC Milan’s outrageous squad expansion was set to continue with the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches.
The news that Milan had agreed a £36m deal with Bayern for the Portuguese was certainly premature, although interest in the player is genuine.
Speaking at Wednesday’s presentation of the Serie A fixture schedule for the upcoming season, Milan’s executive director Marco Fassone was asked about the pursuit of Renato Sanches.
Differences in valuation
“At this time there isn’t a negotiation,” Fassone said.
“The relationship with Rumenigge is very good, we talked about the subject a few times, but at this time their valuation of the player is something we can’t match. Should things change in August we’ll be ready though”
Milan have already splashed the cash on the likes of Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez, Hakan Calhanoglu, Andrea Conti, Leonardo Bonucci, Lucas Biglia and Sanches’ international teammate Andre Silva.
