Pochettino meets Ferguson for lunch

A hugely worrying picture emerged from a Tottenham perspective on Tuesday.

Mauricio Pochettino has led Tottenham to their best ever Premier League placing, indeed their highest ever position in England’s top flight since 1963.

Just last week, before Spurs’ home defeat to Southampton, Mauricio Pochettino announced that he had verbally agreed a new contract with the north London side until 2021.

But, Pochettino has not officially signed a new deal at Tottenham and Manchester United continue to be linked with replacements for Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho, Pochettino or LVG for Man United?

Were Manchester United to fail to reach the top four by the end of the Premier League season, it seems very likely that Louis van Gaal will be on his way from Old Trafford.

For much of the last few months, Manchester United have been heavily linked with Jose Mourinho but Sir Alex Ferguson has talked highly of Mauricio Pochettino in the past.

A warning sign for Daniel Levy?

On Tuesday, The Sun published pictures of a lunch meeting between Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, his assistant Jesus Perez and legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

For many Tottenham fans this was a major warning sign. They have seen big names leave White Hart Lane previously and to see Pochettino leave the club would be a huge blow.

Dan Kilpatrick, a journalist from ESPN, with links to Tottenham, has since claimed that the club new about the luncheon. See the Tweets below.
