Liverpool 4 – Hoffenheim 2

Liverpool produced an excellent display at Anfield on Wednesday evening to seal their spot in the Champions League group stages.

The Merseyside giants always looked in control of the tie thanks to a fine first half performance. Having already lead 2-1 from the first leg in Germany.

Emre Can was the hero of the first half, scoring two goals. Mohamed Salah also notched during the opening 45.

Hoffenheim scored twice at Anfield but Roberto Firmino’s fourth meant a 6-3 aggregate win for Liverpool.

Although Sadio Mane did not score, the Senegal forward was absolutely electric for Liverpool versus Hoffenheim.

Mane has emerged as Liverpool’s key man this season and opposing teams are struggling to keep the former Southampton man quiet.

The Liverpool attacker is also becoming a favourite with legends of the club as well.

Jamie Carragher claimed that Mane is more important than Philippe Coutinho on Monday Night Football.

Whilst Steven Gerrard is such a fan of Mane that he produced an amusing video from BT Sport on Instagram last night.

It features Gerrard responding to Gary Lineker with a short rendition of the Sadio Mane song.

Who can Liverpool face in the Champions League?

Liverpool find themselves in Pot 3 for the draw of the group stages of the Champions League.

Pot 3 is pretty strong itself and Liverpool will be doing well to avoid the likes of Roma, Napoli and Besiktas.

A group of death for Liverpool would probably include Real Madrid, PSG and Celtic.

Perhaps these are the sort of games Liverpool fans want to see their side play in 2017/2018?

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has already spoken about his desire to face Liverpool…
