Trailing 1-0 at the break in the Community Shield, Jose Mourinho threw on new striker Radamel Falcao to replace Loic Remy at half-time in a bid to get Chelsea back into the match against Arsenal.

The Colombian, once undoubtedly one of the best strikers in world football, has had a nightmare time in England and still appears to be recovering from a serious knee injury sustained at Monaco.

Falcao failed to earn a longer contract at Manchester United and also struggled to light up the Copa America with Colombia in the summer.

On his competitive Chelsea debut, Falcao put in another anonymous display during the second half as the Colombian completely failed to have an effect on the game at all.

It still feels like Falcao simply got a move to Chelsea thanks to the friendship between Jose Mourinho and super agent Jorge Mendes (who is getting married later today).

Chelsea fans, already curious about the signing of Falcao, expressed their disappointment on Twitter. Meanwhile, supporters of other sides wondered if this is another chink in the armour of the Blues going into the new campaign…

The fact Diego Costa looks set to miss the home opener against Swansea means Chelsea are relying on Remy and an out-of-form Falcao going into their Premier League defence…
