Bayern’s Manuel Neuer ridiculed for bizarre goalkeeping on Walcott goal for Arsenal [Tweets]

Walcott gives Arsenal the lead

Arsenal were emphatically smashed by Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 a couple of weeks ago, on a night that was as depressing as it was predictable for Arsenal fans.

The Gunners went down 5-1 in Bavaria and were essentially out of the competition even before a ball was kicked in the 2nd leg tonight.

But football is a funny old game, and anything can happen over 90 minutes.

Arsenal started the game brightly and ambitiously, and were rewarded for their efforts when Theo Walcott fired them ahead in the 20th minute, to spark some vague hope of a comeback.

Neuer’s bizarre goalkeeping

And while you can’t take anything away from Walcott’s strike, Manuel Neuer’s attempt to save it raised some eyebrows.

widely regarded as the best keeper in the world, Neuer can at times be undone by his cockiness and casualness.

And he definitely looked like he wasn’t taking Walcott seriously here, as he went to box his shot away as if it was from his younger brother.
