Martial back in the frame
After enjoying such a successful debut season at Manchester United – coming in as an unknown teenager to score on his debut against Liverpool – Martial has gradually fallen off the radar this season.
He’d managed to win over Louis van Gaal last term, but had to start from scratch when Jose Mourinho was appointed as manager this summer.
And it seems Martial isn’t Mourinho’s type of player – he barely started a game for the Portuguese in the first half of the season, indeed he’s often been left out of squads entirely.
But of late, he’s been integrated back into the team, and he’s taken the chance with both hands, producing much improved performances, while keeping up his solid goals ratio.
And while he put in a solid display tonight, he was lucky to stay on the pitch.
The French international clocked a St Etienne defender with a wild elbow early in the second half, which left the defender with a bloodied face.
Incredibly, Martial was only given a yellow for this Fellaini impression.

I don't condone violence, but they're giving Martial some space after that elbow
