Man United fans react to the breakdown between Louis van Gaal & Victor Valdes [Best Tweets]

Inside the space of 72 hours, the relationship between Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal and 33-year-old Spanish keeper Victor Valdes has completely broken down.

Tongues starting wagging when Man United released their tour party for their pre-season trip to America.

Whilst David De Gea was included, Victor Valdes was omitted from the squad.

Speculation rose as to whether Valdes had been axed by Van Gaal, or alternatively whether the keeper may have picked up an injury. We now have a concrete understanding of what has happened.

Valdes posted a message on Twitter on Wednesday showing that he remained committed to Man United for the upcoming season, but on Wednesday night Van Gaal bashed the stopper at a presser in the US, when he said “he doesn’t follow my philosophy. There’s no place for someone like that”.

The Dutch boss claimed Valdes had refused to play in Under-21 games last season: a claim which the goalie has since publicly rebuffed with a snarky tweet on Thursday morning.

Breaking the situation down, Valdes’s days at Old Trafford are undoubtedly over, and it’s now just a matter of time before the former Barcelona custodian exits the Theatre of Dreams.
