One Manchester United fan has seen a tweet pick up a lot of love this weekend.
25-year-old centre-half Chris Smalling gave another standout performance for United on Saturday, as the Red Devils won 3-0 at Everton.
Who would have though that Smalling would be Man United’s senior defender two years ago?
The former non-league man was at his battling best at Goodison Park to prevent Romelu Lukaku from finding the back of the net, and overall Smalling put in another accomplished shift for Louis van Gaal’s team.
If the season ended today, Smalling would likely win the fans’ player of the year award for his huge step-up in performances for the club.
Looking to shower Smalling with praise, one Man United fan titled a tweet “Moments that changed world football”, and he included three photos.
The first was Leo Messi’s debut for Barcelona, the second was Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut for Man United, and finally there was Smalling’s red card at Man City in the derby defeat in November 2014.
How times have changed!
