Liverpool v Arsenal
The biggest game in round three of the Premier League is at Anfield, as unbeaten Liverpool welcome Arsenal.
Arsenal were beaten 1-0 at Stoke last time out, while the Gunners have convinced few they have a squad a capable of winning the league.
Will it be Liverpool’s year? The early weeks of the season suggest Jurgen Klopp’s side could fail to step up as title challengers for familiar reasons. When will they learn to defend set-plays?
Early team news
In sunny news for Arsenal, Alexis Sanchez could be about to return to the side.
After the Stoke defeat, Arsene Wenger told the press: “If all goes well this week Alexis Sanchez will be available for selection next week.”
In a second boost for Arsenal, French centre-half Laurent Koscielny will also be back in the side for the Liverpool game.
Koscielny has served a three match ban after being sent off in the final match of last season against Everton.
As for Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho is unlikely to feature against the Gunners.
Adam Lallana remains a long term absentee, although Nathaniel Clyne could be back for the Reds.
Ref Martin Atkinson
On Tuesday, it’s been revealed the Martin Atkinson will referee the weekend’s Liverpool v Arsenal match.
That’s gone down rather badly with both sets of supporters.
