Miralem Pjanic does a ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’
Serie A restarted on Saturday night, and Juventus kicked things off beating Cagliari 3-0.
The reigning Serie A champs took the lead after 12 minutes through Mario Mandukic. Paulo Dybala doubled the lead for Juventus on the stroke of halftime, while Gonzalo Higuain added a third in the 66th minute.
However, while Juventus cruised to victory, many felt that midfielder Miralem Pjanic crossed a line when he did ‘a Cristiano Ronaldo’ and pushed the ref.
Cristiano Ronaldo is banned
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was slapped with a five match ban following the Spanish Super Cup match against Barcelona.
Ronaldo put his hands on the referee after he was sent off for a dive.
The red card was Ronaldo’s 10th of his career but this could well have been his fastest, with the two yellow cards coming just two minutes apart.
Real Madrid did choose to appeal the decision but that was swiftly rejected after Los Blancos claimed that Ronaldo’s push was an “uncontrollable reflex”.
He’ll miss matches against Deportivo, Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad.
Pjanic pushes the ref
Against Cagliari, Bosnian international Miralem Pjanic was clearly spotted pushing the ref after the official blew up for a free-kick.
But, in contrast to what happened to Cristiano Ronaldo, Pjanic seemed to joke away the incident with the official.
Is this a case of double standards?
