Janssen & Soldado: Tottenham fans troll Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce land Janssen

Turkey’s transfer deadline day is on Friday, and Fenerbahce kicked things off announcing they’ve signed Vincent Janssen from Tottenham.

Janssen is joining Fenerbahce on a season-long loan. But does anyone really think Janssen will ever make the grade at Tottenham?

From Janssen’s perspective, it’s obvious why he wanted to leave Spurs.

After making a 17 million pound move to Tottenham last summer from AZ Alkmaar, it quickly became apparent that Janssen was outside the Spurs starting XI.

Blessed with talent in their squad, Janssen was never a first tier player at White Hart Lane. And Janssen struggled to score goals last term.

Janssen scored 6 goals in 35 games for Spurs last season; 2 of which came from open play.

Janssen will now team up with another failed Tottenham striker in Turkey: Spanish forward Roberto Soldado.

Having signed from Valencia in the summer of 2013 with a reputation for being one of Europe’s deadliest finishers, Soldado spent two tough seasons with Spurs.

Quite simply, his time at White Hart Lane was a disaster; there’s no way of dressing it up glossing over the fact that he was a flop.

The Spaniard scored just 7 Premier League goals in 51 appearances, and added to that unenviable stat, he also became rather infamous for missing goal-gaping sitters.

Janssen and Soldado will now have to try and find a way to gel up front for Fener. That’s after the Istanbul giants lost Robin van Persie to injury during the recent international break.

The fact that Janssen and Soldado will play together at Fener hasn’t gone unnoticed by Tottenham supporters.

They’ve headed to social media to make fun of the whole situation.
