Both Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele returned to the Tottenham first XI for the game against Arsenal and both midfielders have lamented the fact they did not beat their great north London rivals on Saturday.

Tottenham have now been leading in both Premier League north London derbies this season and had they held on for the extra four points, would be well clear of Arsenal and very close to leaders Leicester.

On Saturday, both Dembele and Alli played their part for Spurs with the latter playing an excellent backheel for Harry Kane to put Tottenham 2-1 up.

After the north London derby, both Alli and Dembele posted on Instagram with suggestions that Spurs should have won.

Where Tottenham go from here will be intriguing. They have missed two opportunities to go top of the Premier League in recent games and face a very difficult tie against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League.

Tough game and hard work, but honestly, we should have won. #COYS
