Arjen Robben can’t seem to catch a break. After an injury plagued 2014-15 season, news has filtered out of the Allianz Arena on Thursday, that Robben has pulled out of Bayern Munich’s summer tour of China with a muscle problem.
Robben’s fantastic 2014-15 campaign came to a crashing halt when the 31-year-old suffered a calf injury in the DFB Pokal semi-final loss to Borussia Dortmund.
That injury kept Robben out for the rest of the season, however the Dutch winger had claimed he was feeling healthy in an interview with Bayern TV this week.
Unfortunately for Robben, that’s no longer the case.
Bayern fans are now increasingly concerned about the longevity of their preferred choice of wingers at the club. Robben, and flank partner Franck Ribery, have both suffered long term injuries in recent times, and the feeling is starting to congeal that neither player can be relied upon to stay healthy for the long-term, foreseeable future.
So could this mean Bayern will now move for Man United’s Angel Di Maria?
Perhaps, although there is no immediate indication that Bayern are planning to table a bid for the Argentine international anytime soon.
Below are tweets on Arjen Robben’s latest injury for Bayern Munich.
Injured players Ribéry, Badstuber, Dante, Kirchhoff & Robben won't be on the #AudiFCBtour, but Steinhart, Benko & Pohl will travel instead.
