The incredible ‘could have been’ Arsenal XI produced by Sky Sports

Sky Sports have this afternoon released a brilliant graphic, containing a starting XI made up of players that Arsenal could have signed during Arsene Wenger’s tenure at the club.

Near miss

The report comes on the back of Wenger admitting earlier today that French sensation Kylian Mbappe was ‘close to joining us last year.’

However, as has been widely-covered in the media worldwide over the past week, the Gunners, along with Real Madrid, Liverpool and Barcelona, eventually missed out on Mbappe’s signing, with the prolific 18-year-old having opted to join PSG from Monaco on transfer deadline day.

Gunners failings

The French youngster now stands as the latest in a long line of ‘nearly signings’ for Arsene Wenger in North London, with the 67-year-old’s inability to get deals over the line having been widely documented over recent years.

Sky Sports have this afternoon produced a graphic outlining the team which Wenger could have assembled had he pushed ‘close’ transfers to completion at the Emirates, with the resulting XI containing an astounding array of world-class players:
