The Premier League festive fixtures
The Premier League dominates the global football world during the period of Christmas and New Year.
Once again, in the latter days of 2016 and early days of 2017, it has been wall to wall coverage of the Premier League.
Fans in England absolutely love the huge number of games that are played by all clubs and this can undoubtedly be a defining period in any season.
Usually the best sides in the Premier League rise to the occasion during the huge slew of games during Christmas and New Year.
Spurs & Man United the big winners
Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Chelsea completed the festive fixture list and confirmed that they were the big winners of this period, along with Manchester United.
Under Mauricio Pochettino Spurs have often performed well at this stage of the season, partly due to their policy of playing young players with fresh legs.
Manchester United’s four wins showcase just how they are improving under Jose Mourinho, with a settled side and Zlatan firing in the goals.
Liverpool only failed to get maximum points during the festive period due to their draw at Sunderland, which frustrated Jurgen Klopp so much.
Chelsea and Manchester City grabbed three wins out of the four games, with their defeats only coming to top four rivals, Spurs and Liverpool respectively.
The only side to puncture the top six dominance was Everton, who quietly had a great festive period.
Finally, Watford, Hull and Crystal Palace had a pretty disastrous festive period, whilst Southampton also seriously underperformed.
