Official: OGC Nice sign Dutch legend Wesley Sneijder

Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice have this afternoon confirmed the signing of Dutch midfield maestro Wesley Sneijder.

Turkish stint

Sneijder, formerly of Real Madrid and Inter Milan, was most recently plying his trade with Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he racked up an impressive 5 goals and 15 assists in the Super Lig last season.

He had been with Gala since 2013, though had long spoken of his readiness for a new adventure.

Done deal

Since having been released by the Istanbul-based outfit earlier this summer, Sneijder has been linked with the likes of Sampdoria, FC Utrecht and a number of La Liga clubs, though it is a surprise contender who have won the race for the 33-year-old’s signature, in the form of French side OGC Nice.

Links between the 131-time capped Dutch international and Lucien Favre’s outfit only arose last week, but Les Aiglons have moved quickly to secure Sneijder’s signature ahead of their crunch matchup with Italian giants Napoli in the Champions League qualifying round.
