Chelsea announce Bakayoko
Chelsea have announced the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco for an undisclosed fee believed to be around €35 million. The French midfielder has been linked with the Blues for weeks and signs a five-year contract.
It has seemed like a formality for a while now but the move looked in danger as recently as a few days ago when reports broke that Manchester United had outbid Chelsea for the midfielder. These appear to have been false.

The delay over the move was down to the player needing surgery on his knee as well as the transfer negotiations.
Bakayoko was a key player in Monaco’s Ligue 1 title win and run to the Champions League semi-finals. Tall, quick and industrious, it’s expected that he’ll be an upgrade on Nemanja Matic. The Serbian has been linked with United.
He’ll wear the number 14 shirt for Chelsea and play in the same team as international teammate N’Golo Kante.
Monaco have also sold Bernardo Silva and Valere Germain. More departures are expected.
