Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has reportedly demanded the club take unprecedented action with teammate Edinson Cavani after the pair’s argument on Sunday.
After winning a penalty, Neymar and Cavani had an argument over who would take the spot-kick, with the latter eventually getting his way.
Cavani went on to miss the penalty as his powerful strike hit the crossbar.
In the end, the miss was of little consequence as PSG ran out 2-0 winners against Lyon, courtesy of two own goals.
The fight seemed to spill over into the dressing room following the match.
Neymar has now asked the club’s hierarchy to sell Cavani, according to the Daily Mail.
It seems that egos have clashed following Neymar’s £198m move from Barcelona.
The 25-year-old was joined in Paris by Monaco wonderkid Kylian Mbappe, making competition for places at the Parc des Princes at an all time high.
According to the Mail, Neymar’s view is that it would be ‘impossible’ to continue playing in the same team as the Uruguayan.
According to Sport: “Neymar has already communicated to Nasser Al-Khelaifi that his coexistence with Cavani is totally impossible and he has asked for the transfer of the Uruguayan striker.”
Next up for Paris Saint-Germain is an away Ligue 1 game at Montepllier. Manager Unai Emery will have a difficult choice to make when picking his forwards.
The Parisians sit comfortably at the top of the table, winning six out of six so far. The Ligue 1 champions have scored 21 and conceded just 3 in the process.
