Nathan Ake

Nathan Ake’s return to Chelsea brings in crazy Fantasy Premier League rule

Nathan Ake heading back to Chelsea

On Saturday, news emerged that Nathan Ake was heading back to Chelsea, from his loan move at Bournemouth.

Ake has been really impressive for Bournemouth, both defensively and offensively and looks like a great fit for Chelsea.

The Dutch youngster can play as a central defender or on the left side, so would provide competition to Marcos Alonso.

Howe confirms Ake return

Ake was left out of the Bournemouth squad for their surprise defeat at Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe all but conformed Ake’s Chelsea return after the game: “It looks like that will be the case, it’s not 100% finalised yet.”

Chelsea had a recall at any time clause in Ake’s Bournemouth loan and have decided to use it.

What if you have 3 Chelsea players in FPL & Ake?

The Ake news has awoken many Fantasy Premier League managers.

Ake has turned into a fine FPL player at Bournemouth, since forcing his way as a regular into Eddie Howe’s side.

Currently owned by 9.9% of FPL managers, there are plenty who have Ake in their side as well as three Chelsea players.

For example, Diego Costa is the most owned player on the game and Eden Hazard is the second most owned midfielder on FPL.

A crazy FPL rule comes into play

So, if you have Ake and he returns to Chelsea plus already own three Blues players a pretty crazy FPL rule comes into play.

If you own Nathan Aké & three Chelsea players, when he goes back this month the next transfer you make will have to be a Chelsea player OUT.

You could hold onto Ake and the three Chelsea players, but you will not be able to make a transfer for the rest of the season!

Could make for some interesting decisions one Ake does return to Chelsea…
