Nathan Ake’s Chelsea return puts embargo on Fantasy Football Managers

He’s back

Antonio Conte has decided to recall defender Nathan Ake from his loan spell at Bournemouth after a brilliant first half of the season from the player, and is willing to give him a real chance in Chelsea’s first team.

That’s great news for the player – and the club, who have long tried to bring young players through and struggled to do so – but there is one small issue.

The return is set to cause a couple of issues for Fantasy Football Managers, who will now face an embargo through no fault of their own.

The problem

Not that Ake would care about this, but the fact that his return to Chelsea means he would be playing for a different club (obviously) and given the rule about only being able to have three players from any given club, it looks set to cause a couple of problems.

The amount of people who have Diego Costa (44.4%) and Eden Hazard (34.2%), not to mention Thibaut Courtois (15.4%)  or even David Luiz in their side could well mean they already have three Chelsea players – and if they’re part of the 9.9% who currently have Ake as well, they could be about to face some difficulties.

That’s because while they would be allowed to keep Ake in their side along with the other three Chelsea players, they’d effectively be put under a transfer embargo.

The official rules state: “If a player is transferred to another team in the Premier League, and this transfer takes you over the players per team limit, then you will need to go back under the limit when making your next transfers.”

Oh dear…
