Wayne Rooney has been pictured back in training with Manchester United, yet he’s still a huge doubt for the FA Cup tie with Blackburn Rovers on the weekend.
United are fighting for trophies on al four fronts – with a top four place their aim in the Premier League, and not the title, obviously – but they need all their players fit and ready with so many games in such a short space of time.
Jose Mourinho has often talked about a fixture pile-up, and it seems that with Rooney still nursing fitness concerns, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial may get a chance, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to be rested.
One thing that has become increasingly clear this season is the fact Wayne Rooney is now a squad player, and for him to get a chance, it is more likely to come in FA Cup games – with Zlatan Ibrahimovic clearly the main man up top.
There are plenty of games for United to focus on, and once the minor injury concern is no longer the case for Rooney, he could well be in line for a return to the line-up.
