Premier League giants Manchester United have set their sights on a move for one of Chelsea’s key midfield options this summer.
The player in question is Nemanja Matic, who played under United manager Jose Mourinho during the Portuguese tactician’s most recent spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.
According to Goal.com, the Red Devils boss sees Matic as the ideal foil for his first-choice midfield pairing of Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera at Old Trafford, with the club having identified the 28-year-old as their key midfield target this summer.
With the arrival of Monaco midfield talent Tiemoue Bakayoko at Chelsea said to be imminent, Matic will have to fight it out with the Frenchman, N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas for a spot in the Blues midfield for next season.
Hence, Mourinho and co. will attempt to coax Matic into a move to Manchester with the guarantee of first-team football week-in week-out.
