Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has emerged as an unlikely target for Manchester City, according to a report from Radio Crc.
San Paolo favourite
Reina, now 34, is well-known to fans of the Premier League following his stint with Liverpool from 2005-2014.
The Spanish stopper has also appeared for the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich over the course of his career, while he is currently on the books at Serie A side Napoli.
With Reina’s contract in Naples due to expire next summer, and the goalkeeper having expressed his love for the city and its fans on numerous occasions, it was widely expected that the 35-time capped international’s renewal was a mere formality.
However, this has not proven the case to this point, with the Partenopei no.1 known to maintain a difficult relationship with club President Aurelio De Laurnetiis.
As a result, Radio Crc report that Manchester City have offered 3 million Euro to Napoli for Reina, who they see as an ideal backup to new first-choice goalkeeper Ederson.
Napoli reportedly want at least 5 million for the former Anfield star, though their preference is to hold onto Reina for at least one more season.
