Julian Brandt

Liverpool target Julian Brandt’s father labels Bayern story as ‘Fake News’

Liverpool target Brandt

With a German manager at the helm, Liverpool are increasingly linked with Bundesliga players.

Having played in the Bundesliga and then managed Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, there are few managers in the world of football more au fait with the German league than Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool have been linked with a host of Dortmund stars ever since Klopp took over, but they haven’t actually bought any for now.

The latest German player to be linked with a move to Anfield is Julian Brandt.

The winger has really impressed for Bayer Leverkusen this year, particularly in the Champions League – a competition not too many Liverpool players have much experience in…

Off to Bayern?

Recent reports have claimed that Bayern Munich have stolen a march on Liverpool, and that the Bavarian giants are set to sign the 20-year-old hot prospect.

But Brandt’s father and agent has labelled such reports as ‘fake news’, and insists that no decision has been made on his son’s future just yet.

Speaking to Kicker, Brandt Senior said:

“It is fake news that Julian has agreed terms with Bayern.

“Julian has never been in the situation where he had to – or wanted to – make a decision on his future.”

There isn’t any trend nor any agreement.

Julian will speak to Leverkusen about the season and his future in the summer.

There have been enquiries from Bayern as well as others — but only to me.

I collect these but there’s nothing concrete yet.”

“Julian hasn’t made any decision as to his future yet. He hasn’t spoken with any of those responsible at Bayern such as [Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge, [Uli] Hoeness or [Michael] Reschke, nor has he spoken to [Carlo] Ancelotti.”
