As a former Chelsea man, you’d expect Frank Lampard to only have good things to say about the club, and that seems to be the case, with the BT Sport pundit tipping Antonio Conte’s men for the title.
Lampard also claimed that despite their start, Manchester United were only looking at a third placed finish – and it would be Man City who end as runners up – his other former side.
Lampard spoke to Arsenal FanTV and was asked who will win the title.
He said: “Chelsea. I think Chelsea are going to sign a couple of players. If Hazard gets fit and firing then they’ve got the best set-up.
“They’re organised and the back three are brilliant. They defend better than anyone.
“Man City [will come second]. Attacking wise they are the best team but it’s whether that comes together.
“Manchester United [will come third] and then Tottenham. It’s between Tottenham and Arsenal for fourth place and I’d put Liverpool sixth.”
United look ominous
Not only are Manchester United in a Jose Mourinho second season – something we know the manager loves and has never actually failed in, it seems they finally look like the side Mourinho wanted and the fans have missed since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson.
They are big, physical, pacy on the counter attack and willing to both break up play and keep opponents out, along with scoring goals and entertaining the fans.
Now they’re off to a brilliant start, but Mourinho is making sure the fans and media remember they also won their firs two games last year – and finished miles off the title in sixth position.
That being said, the club do look different this season, and it seems to be between Man United and Man City for the title in the eyes of the fans and the bookies at least.
