Hull v Man City: Premier League preview
Man City close out an action-packed Boxing Day when they travel to Hull’s KCOM Stadium.
Last weekend, Man City came from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Etihad, with goals from Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling.
The victory lifted Pep Guardiola’s side above Arsenal into third place.
After one point taken from their last four matches, Hull find themselves bottom of the table on 12 points.
Hull suffered a 1-0 defeat at West Ham last weekend, courtesy of a Mark Noble penalty.
Despite the result, Mike Phelan will take confidence in his side’s performance. The Tigers were unlucky to lose the match after hitting the woodwork three times.
Due to their poor goal difference, a surprise victory for Hull wouldn’t be enough to lift them out of the relegation zone.
Team news: Fernandinho returns
Ryan Mason and Josh Tymon will return to Phelan’s squad, but Abel Hernandez is “still a couple of weeks away from a return.”
Goalkeeper Allan McGregor has re-joined first-team training as he recovers from back surgery. David Marshall will start in goal on Boxing Day.
Alex Bruce is making good progress in his recovery from an Achilles injury. Moses Odubajo, Will Keane, Brian Lenihan and Greg Luer remain sidelined.
Sergio Aguero will serve the fourth and final match of his suspension following his horror challenge on David Luiz at the start of the month.
Fernandinho returns from a three-match ban and is expected to replace Fernando in midfield.
Bacary Sagna is set to come in for Pablo Zabaleta, who suffered a knee injury.
Vincent Kompany remains out.
