Out of form Harry Kane
To the surprise of nearly everyone apart from biased Spurs fans, Harry Kane started up front for England tonight.
Given that he’s failed to score so far in the new Premier League season, it was debatable whether he deserved to be in the squad at all, let alone start.
But Big Sam picked the Spurs man up front for the Slovakia test, and left him on for 82 minutes, despite the striker offering little in terms of an attacking threat.
It’s been a long time since Kane has performed in an England shirt, and tonight’s performance comes on the back of a very poor Euro 2016 campaign, the highlight of which was his corner taking.
Tweet gets trolled
Taking all that into account, it was probably inevitable that Kane’s post-game Tweet wouldn’t be so well received.
Aside from Spurs fans, most England fans mercilessly let Kane know what they thought of his performance, some of whom even asked if he’d played.
