Ilkay Gundogan scores 2 as Man City beat Barcelona

Ilkay Gundogan showed his scoring instinct tonight, scoring 2 goals as Manchester City beat Barcelona in the Champions League.

Having lost the first game 4-0 at the Camp Nou last week, City badly needed to win tonight in order to maintain their chances of qualifying from their group.

And in the end, they beat Barcelona with a little to spare, thanks largely to Gundogan’s brace, which was sandwiched by a Kevin De Bruyne free-kick.

The German international scored City’s first, arriving into the box to latch onto Raheem Sterling’s pass, and showed similar instincts when pouncing on a rebound to score the third in the second half.

Better numbers than Pogba

He’s not exactly renowned for his scoring – he is a box-to-box midfielder after all, but he’s producing striker numbers at City right now.

He scored just 10 league goals for Dortmund in 5 years, but he already has 3 of those for City, plus the Champions League brace tonight.

Which means he already has more goals than Paul Pogba, who he cost 70m pounds less than.

In fact, he cost around the same amount as Pogba’s redoubtable agent Mino Raiola.
